What is a Identification number and when is it needed?

Registration of an identification number (TIN)

The identification number (IN) is an important document that is required for financial transactions, concluding agreements, paying taxes, and many other legal and administrative procedures. It is also a RNOKPP - the registration number of the taxpayer's account card or simply a tax identification number.

What is a identification number and why is it important?

An identification number is a unique code that is assigned to each citizen for registration with the tax authorities of Ukraine. The TIN is mandatory for:

Registration of employment relations
Registration of business activity
Receipt of state services and benefits
Submission of tax returns
Registration of financial and legal agreements (powers of attorney, statutory documents, court decisions).

Who needs a taxpayer identification number?

In Ukraine, every person who intends to work, get a job, open a bank account or carry out other legal and financial transactions must have an identification number (IN). This rule applies not only to citizens of Ukraine, but also to foreigners, as well as stateless persons staying on the territory of Ukraine.

Why do foreigners and stateless persons need a  identification number?

An identification number for foreigners and stateless persons is required for:

Registration of employment relations (work in Ukraine).

Opening bank accounts (for financial transactions).
Receiving services from state bodies (registration of place of residence, receiving benefits, etc.).
Filing tax returns.
Drawing up other legal documents.

Who issues a taxpayer identification number?

The identification number is issued exclusively by the Tax Service of Ukraine, in general, territorial divisions. In the case of non-residents - only the main departments.

Obtaining a tax  identification number has become much easier thanks to our services. We offer you a full range of assistance in obtaining an identification number without the need to visit the tax office.

The desire to protect important documents from moisture, dirt, or wear and tear is entirely understandable. For many years, sealing paper documents in thick plastic film was considered in Ukraine to be practically the best way to preserve a family archive. However, from the perspective of international and domestic law, laminating documents constitutes a serious violation that effectively renders them legally invalid. This problem becomes particularly acute when citizens travel abroad. Applying for a residence permit, registering a marriage, proving family ties to claim an inheritance, or initiating repatriation proceedings in EU countries, the U.S., or Canada is immediately blocked if ...
